Devin & Lauren(Carlyle-IL-8/7)

When I sit down to start a new blog post I turn on my Pandora music player. Joshua Radin likes to serenade me with his musical talents.( if you would like to read this post while listening to amazing  music click the link.) When I start typing out my introduction sentence I tend to delete it about a dozen times until I am satisfied. I’m not a fantastic writer. I’m mediocre at best. I use “I” far too often. My run on sentences don’t just run on….they run on and on and on. I rarely use correct punctuation.,:; I have never received anything higher than a B in English; however I have had A’s in every art class I’ve ever taken. Hey I’ll take it.  Even in the photography class where everyone hated the teacher; complained that she was just a bitter old shrew that had no idea what real art was…. Apparently she did because I got an A. ; )

Even though my grammar is flawed I still have managed to have a following. Lauren has been following me for quite some time. She was able to look past my flawed grammar and now her friends are stalking the blog. Not my blog… but “THE BLOG”. That makes me smile. I have put so much time and $ into my blog.  It’s nice to know that people enjoy reading my ramblings/ looking at my photos. I love how one person tells another person…then that person tells a friend…and then one day I will have thousands of readers….Ok maybe not..but let me dream…”Dream On Dream On Dream On …..Dream until the dream come true!!! Oh Aerosmith they don’t make music like they used to…and Don Mclean the day the music really died was when Ke$ha showed up on the charts. ” Im talking – pedicure on our toes, toes Trying on all our clothes, clothes Boys blowing up our phones, phones”. What kind of name is Ke$ha anyway – DJ NICE

  Anyway tangent off.

“What a beautiful wedding!” says the bridesmaid to a waiter.

Every couple of months I spend a few hours just looking through wedding magazines at Borders. I sit on the floor in the biography section. I surround myself with very sporadic piles of magazines. From The Knot to Martha Stewart weddings and everything in between. I picked up a small pile of STL area mags and started flipping through the pages. I’ve gotten pretty good at guessing which Saint Louis Wedding Photog shot all of the real weddings in the STL/Kansas City Knot. You know that’s a useful skill to have. hah. Anywho…

As I was going though the venue section I decided that I wanted to blog about venues. My 1st instinct was to complain about all of the venues that would rather me pass out than eat dinner with the guests. Then my second thought was to write about shining stars that have treated me very kindly. However I came to the conclusion that my readers don’t really care about who hurt my feelings or saved me a piece of cake. ; )  Therefore this blog is not going to be about either of those. If your looking for a venue that could be a hidden gem this is the blog you want to read. We all know about Windows off Washington, Botanical Gardens,The Butterfly House,Ball Park Hilton,Union Station…I could go on and on but I won’t. They are lovely spaces..however I’d like 2011 to be filled with venues that I have never been to.  I would love more farm/backyard/rooftop weddings. Here is my small list of neat venues that I would love to shoot your wedding at!

Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concerts

The summer concert series is over…I will now wrap up my all access pass and tuck it away in my closet. This summer has been pretty much a blur. A fantastic blur..but a blur all the same. I don’t think I am going to have time to photograph many of the events next year….if any… : ( I have 4 years of memories that I wouldn’t ever trade. From getting bear hugged by One Republic, meeting Counting Crows, trying budlight lime for the 1st time, to hanging off the side of the roof of Soldiers Memorial, to getting recognized from my about me photo “I follow your blog” ! by a random stranger; to just spending time backstage with the hubs. Not to forget that amazing feeling I get right when the band makes it’s way out. I can’t put into words how much I love the sound of hundreds of people screaming while standing in the pit. I’m almost getting teary eyed as I type…I will miss Julie Donnelly from Celebrate STL like no-body’s business. The amount of work that everyone puts into Fair STL and Live on the Levee is ridiculous…. You have no idea….So that we can have FREE concerts! People complain that we should “get better bands” blah blah. Don’t be ungrateful! We are so lucky! I love Saint Louis.  I was just a 19 yr old girl with a camera four years ago. Bless them for believing in my talents and allowing me to document Fair St Louis/Live on the Levee. So…… ”Yeah, and one more time….. Thanks for the memories, thanks for the memories.”

Fair Saint Louis(July 3rd-4th)

My favorite photo of the year so far was taken last weekend at Fair Saint Louis. ^ I plan on getiing at least a 16×20 printed to hang in my house! : D

I love being a part of Fair Saint Louis. I’ve shot FSL for 4 years now! It’s weird to think that it’s been that long already. I swear I was shooting lifehouse with my little pentax k100d last summer. Geeze how time flys! Speaking of flying….. The Air Show was so cool to watch! I don’t know what it is about hearing pilots over the loud speaker; while watching them fly vintage planes, but it makes me feel so patriotic. I ended up shedding a few tears. I know I know.. suck it up! : D  Certain things move me! I don’t know…Normally I have “an icebox where my heart used to be”…Song reference..It’s what I do.

   On with the show!
